II School Policy At GIS, each and every school days is of vital importance. Students who arrive days after the start of a term are disrupting not only their own learning process but are negatively affecting the academic pace set by the school. In order to deal fairly and appropriately with this matter: 1) Arrival after the start of a term is only acceptable if: a) a student is seriously ill, or b) there has been a death in the student"s family In either case, the director must be notified immediately. 2) For student who consistently arrive late for the start of each term, GIS reserves the right to push back the date of graduation. So, we say to all parents; If the ultimate goal is for your sons and daughters to obtain admission to an American, British or international institution of higher learning, it is vital that all those concerned - educators, parents and students - work together, not against one another, in the serious matter of school attendance. 3) If a student is believed to have used or to be under the influence of controlled substances, that student will be subjected to a urine test. In addition the school retains the right to conduct random tests. Should a student be deemed to have violated the school policy on drugs, the sanction of dismissal will be imposed. 4) It is understood that unless otherwise agreed to by the school, enrolment shall be for one school year and entails a financial responsibility extending to the end of the academic year. There will be no reduction or refund of fees in the event of a student"s withdrawal, dismissal or temporary absence.
III Arrival procedures Whatever the means of transportation, as soon as travel plans are finalized, please fax this information to the school. Students requiring transportation from Geneva Airport are asked to inform us of this need as early as possible. These students should provide the school with complete flight details by September 15 in order to organize a shuttlebus to and from the airport. Upon arrival at the school, all students" passports and return airline tickets will be placed in a deposit box for safekeeping. Each student will then be given his/her room assignment along with other general information concerning the opening days of school.
