Each year, the school brings together a student body made up of diverse nationalities, religions and races. It is this diversity, a microcosm of wider world around us, that enriches the experience of living and studying as a community. GIS expects its students to cultivate an understanding of and a respect for the differences which make people unique. At GIS, the cultural differences which so enrich the life of our school exist side by side with the common denominator uniting us: a genuine caring for one another as well as an attitude of thankfulness for all that has been given to us, the personalized learning and teaching that takes place, and the options and opportunities that we have been given are not our due. These are our blessings! Let us use them responsibly and gratefully. The selection of the right private school from a myriad of possibilities is neither easy, nor is it always straightforward. Choices abound, but making the best one for your child depends largely upon understanding completely your child"s needs, both academic and social; and upon knowing where to find the educational environment best suited to your expectations. Schools offer much more than a classroom and a teacher. They are agents of socialization; providers of knowledge, moral values, and self confidence; and vehicles to success. Gstaad International School is unique in Switzerland as a small, community oriented tutorial school that prepares students for university admissions. This is achieved through the educational ethic fostered at GIS which is based in hard work. Students are continually presented with challenges and the opportunities to achieve where perhaps before they thought impossible. Education at GIS continues beyond the classroom and is complemented by the supportive crosscultural living environment and the diverse sports program that makes good use of the school"s beautiful alpine setting. |
